How do I choose between an in-line linear filler and a rotary filler?

In-line linear fillers are typically used at lower outputs and suit craft wineries, distilleries and small bottlers that need flexibility on bottle formats with limited investment. Rotary fillers are continuous-motion machines used at medium and high outputs, where the valve count and carousel diameter define the nominal speed. The right choice depends on target bottles per hour, available floor space, bottle format range and the closure technology required downstream.

Can a used bottling filler be retrofitted for new bottle or closure formats?

In most cases yes. Used fillers can usually be adapted to new bottle heights and diameters with dedicated format change parts (star wheels, centering bells, neck guides and lifting cylinders), and the capper section can be reconfigured for different closures such as screw cap, crown, cork, T-cap, ROPP aluminum or pilfer-proof. Feasibility and cost depend on the original machine and on how far the new format deviates from the original design.

A used bottling filler is the heart of any bottling line: the machine that doses the product into glass or PET bottles before capping. Depending on the product — still or sparkling wine, beer, mineral or flavored water, carbonated soft drinks, juice, edible oil, spirits, milk or liquid food — second-hand fillers use different technologies: isobaric (counter-pressure), gravity, light vacuum, level, electronic flowmeter or volumetric piston filling.
